When February’s Full Wolf Moon went full-on DRAMA QUEEN on me, and truths were being punctured and truths were banging on the door to get in, and I had to CHOOSE the reality to come and I wasn’t ready, and I felt like I was at the center of someone's else's METAPHYSICAL TANTRUM and all I wanted to do was curse the moon (which I had planned, in exquisite detail, to CELEBRATE)…
I crafted and cast the DRAMA QUEEN | a Soul SAUCE + FLOSS Workout Ritual.
The Drama Queen
The DRAMA QUEEN includes six alchemical writing sprints, crafted to help you identify, reclaim, and manifest the POWER THAT IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS, which is the theme of 2024, the year of the Tarot’s Strength card. (2 = 2 + 0 + 4 + 8, and Strength is the eighth card in the Tarot’s Major Arcana.)
I’m sharing three of those writing sprints today—to inject an intentional dose of creativity into your weekend and whet your appetite for more! All you need is 15 minutes and something to write with and on. And a Sharpie, if you have one.
The Mini Drama Queen feat. CAConrad
Via the wisdom of poet, (soma)tic practitioner, and Tarot reader CAConrad—who always argues (from the inside of his poems) for a poetics of radical inclusivity while keeping a very queer shoulder to the wheel—these three writing sprints connect past, present, and future— helpfully reminding you that you are part of a larger story, catalyzing a necessary perspective shift, and planting your Next Great Poem/Story/Essay/etc.!
CAConrad’s “kind of queerness” has been celebrated as unashamed and nonpolarizing, deeply informed by love, and a tenderness for the ravages and tumult of existence. Prepare to do the same in these three writing springs!
Writing Sprint #1 | the Past | A Little Fish Who Cleaned…
Turn to a new left-hand page in your notebook. Why the left-hand? The left side is for receiving.
Draw an enormous air sign and make it big, so it takes up about two-thirds of the page. The air sign is a triangle with a horizontal line through the middle so there’s an isosceles trapezoid on bottom and a triangle on top.
Inside the trapezoid (the bottom half of the air sign), write in a past life I was… and fill in the blanks.
I invite you to get specific and ecological with your imagery, à la the first six lines in CAConrad’s “Golden in the Morning Crane Our Necks”: “in a past life I was/ a little fish who/ cleaned the shells of turtles/ a dream/ helped me remember their/ deep voice of thanks.”
Who were you and whom did you help in your past lives? What kind of a creature were you, and what was your soul purpose before you were born in this human flesh?
Set a timer for three minutes and write or sketch wildly, like a child.
